This, as our Kelly Dwyer wrote on Saturday, is a mess, very much in keeping with the seemingly unending run of dysfunction, absurdity and nonsense that has spanned both Boogie’s six-year tenure in Sacramento and the handful of years that preceded his arrival. As we’ve now learned, though, it is not enough of a mess for the Kings to take Cousins — who enters Tuesday’s play fourth in the NBA in scoring at 28.6 points per game and 11th in the league in rebounding with an average of 10.7 caroms a contest — out of the lineup.

But there were many more names in attendance you don’t know, names that Sager himself may not have even known. Names bound together in love and admiration, here to celebrate the life of a guy who celebrated life.

Among those attending the service were San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and members of Sager's Turner Sports TV family, including Ernie Johnson and Reggie Miller.

He shows no fear in taking on the likes of Westbrook, Golden State's Stephen Curry, the Clippers' Chris Paul or whoever else poses a threat to the Rockets. But there's more to Beverley's game than locking down opponents on the defensive end.

While Harden's financial success has allowed her to retire and move from city to city with Harden during his NBA career, she said giving back and helping those in need is something everyone should do, especially during the holiday season.

Last season was difficult for the Chicago native. He came into the season 20-pounds overweight and played sluggishly. After losing 17 pounds in the offseason and having minor knee surgery, Beverley is crashing the boards and having a positive presence every night.

When Beverley was out, the Rockets started Eric Gordon and eventually Corey Brewer as the other guard with Harden. After Beverley’s return, Gordon moved to the bench, paired up with Beverley at times, and it has benefited the Rockets. Gordon is second in the league in scoring off the bench, and Beverley provides a solid backcourt partner to Harden.

For the last five years, Harden and many of his family members have gone through the store to help single moms and their kids pick out items. This year, Harden's foundation spent roughly $1,500 per family so single moms could buy groceries, toys and clothes.

Information from ESPN's Michael C. Wright was used in this report.

But since this was Sager’s life being celebrated, this was also a memorial service of inspiration, determination and head-shaking laughter. It’s the rare memorial service that includes the words “ass,” “balls,” “hell,” “willy,” and “Hooters,” but Sager’s had all these and more.

"He never gives up, plays hard every time he’s on the court. He’s a great teammate to have," Brewer said.

The Grizzlies are 18-11 despite Parsons missing so much time, as well as extended absences by several other key players, including point guard Mike Conley, who recently returned after missing three weeks due to transverse process fractures in his lower back.
